Burnside Primary School in Carnoustie will be closed next week after part of its roof was blown off during Storm Otto.
Firefighters were forced to remove part of the structure after rushing to the scene around 6am on Friday.
Angus Council says the building is not safe for children and staff to return to after an inspection was carried out.
The school – which has been cordoned off – is shut on Friday and Monday for the mid-term break.
Pupils to be offered remote learning
The council say children who attend Burnside Nursery will temporarily be relocated to Carnoustie Early Learning and Childcare Centre from Tuesday.
Primary school pupils will be provided with remote learning from Wednesday.
It is not yet known when the building will be open again.
A spokesperson for Angus Council said: “Burnside Primary School in Carnoustie suffered serious damage to its roof in the early hours of Friday as a result of Storm Otto.
“An initial assessment has been carried out and confirms that the building is not safe for children and staff to attend in its current condition.
“Following the mid-term break, the school building will remain closed to all children in the school week beginning Tuesday.
“At present, there is not a confirmed timescale for reopening the school building. Assessments are continuing and updates will be provided when they are available in the coming days.”
