The Co-op at Panmurefield was targeted in the early hours of Thursday, with cigarettes and alcohol among the thieves’ haul.

Nicola Cameron, 38, says she woke to discover her handbag and black BMW had been taken while she and her daughters Mia,10, and Zoe, eight, were asleep upstairs.

Her husband Ross, 43, was awake when the break-in is thought to have occurred but had headphones in so did not hear the intruder.

A neighbouring house was also broken into around the same time and another handbag was stolen.

Nicola’s car was then used to break into the Co-op shortly after 4am, although she did not learn her car had been used until around 11am. The car still has not been found.

Nicola said: “It is scary. I’m trying not to think about it.”

The car bore the registration N111 RNC.

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101.
