Police have confirmed the body of a pensioner was found at Kinnordy Loch in Angus earlier this month.
A 74-year-old man’s body was discovered at the beauty spot near Kirriemuir just after 5am on Sunday May 14.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
Residents told of seeing a large amount of police activity in the town and surrounding area over that weekend.
‘A lot of police cars heading to Kinnordy’
One resident said: “I saw a lot of police cars with sirens heading in the direction of Kinnordy.
“They overtook me and a short while later I caught up and they were stopped in the vicinity of Kinnordy Loch.
“At that point, I saw a few officers walking around the car park area at the nature reserve.
“It didn’t look good and really made me wonder what was happening.”
Another resident, who asked not to be named, said: “I stay close by and I heard that a man’s body had been found.
“There’s been a lot of talk about it. It’s really upsetting.”
One man also saw police in attendance.
He said: “There seemed to be a lot of police activity throughout Kirriemuir over the weekend and then it focused on Kinnordy Loch.
“It’s a really popular spot so it’s tragic that this has happened there.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “At around 5.05am on Sunday May 14, the body of a 74-year-old man was discovered at Kinnordy Loch, near Kirriemuir.
“There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
