The stunning scenery at Dunnottar Castle, which is around 3km south of Stonehaven.
A man had to be airlifted to hospital on Sunday evening after getting into difficulty at a picturesque north-east beauty spot.
HM Coastguard received a request for assistance from the Scottish Ambulance Service after the man fell at the steps at Dunnottar Castle, on the coast south of Stonehaven, shortly after 4pm.
Due to the rocky terrain and the man’s location, paramedics decided to summon the Bond Rescue 1 helicopter which transported him to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with suspected knee and lower leg injuries.
It is understood that the man, who is 54-years-old, may have damaged ligaments in his knee.

A spokesman for HM Coastguard said coastal rescue teams from both Stonehaven and Aberdeen were involved in co-ordinating the operation.
Crew from Stonehaven were mainly involved in dealing with crowd control and communicating with the rescue helicopter.
Dunnottar Castle, a ruined cliff top fortress which was once home of the Earls Marischal, is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.
