Angus and Mearns lifeboat and Coastguard volunteers were sent up the coast to a cliff rescue on Friday night.
Stonehaven RNLI lifeboat volunteer crew responded to a call from HM Coastguard alerting them to a casualty at Newtonhill at 9.32pm.
The volunteer crew launched the inshore lifeboat Jack & Joyce Burcombe to reports of a person falling down the cliff.
The coastguards from Stonehaven and Montrose were on scene and requested the help of the lifeboat.
On arrival at the scene at 10.03pm the volunteer crew went ashore to assist the Scottish Ambulance Service with the 25-year-old female casualty.
She had been climbing as part of a team and had stumbled and fallen backwards on to the rocks.
She was assessed by paramedics and the crew and due to her injuries to head, back and hip it was agreed the casualty required to be evacuated from the scene.
She was immobilised and Helicopter Rescue 951 was scrambled from Inverness at 10.15pm.
Her injuries were not thought to be life threatening.
