An Angus man was remanded with a sheriff’s warning yesterday after admitting his seventh domestically aggravated offence in the last two years.
Connor William Angus from Arbroath lost his liberty when he appeared for sentence at Forfar Sheriff Court.
The 21-year-old was remanded in custody after he admitted breaking a non-harassment order put in place to protect his partner in Arbroath in June this year.
The court heard Angus had broken the terms of a community payback order for a previous domestic offence, as he had started a new job and was unable to carry out unpaid work.
But he was told a period in Perth prison would end that employment.
Defence agent Brian Bell said his client admitted breaching a community payback order that was previously imposed at Forfar.
The solicitor added: “This was as an alternative to custody and he accepts that.
“It strikes me he will realise he wouldn’t have a job as he’ll be sitting in Perth for six to eight months because of the seriousness of the offence.”
Sheriff Gregor Murray told him: “The latest offence is your seventh domestically aggravated offence in the last two years.
“It occurred a week after you appeared in this court with what would be described as a bad report from criminal justice social workers. You haven’t complied with an order that was imposed as a direct alternative to custody.
“Accordingly, I will revoke that order and you’ll be remanded in custody for a new report.”
Angus, of Ernest Street, admitted breaching a non-harassment order made on June 29 this year by contacting his partner at his home on August 3, aggravated by the involvement of partner abuse.
He further admitted causing a breach of the peace at his home on August 3 this year, behaving in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person fear or alarm, in that he repeatedly shouted, swore at Ms Kerr, behaved in an aggressive manner and made excessive noise, aggravated by the involvement of abuse.
The involvement of abuse is an aggravating factor for orders and breaches of the peace under the new Abusive Behaviour and Sexual Harm (Scotland) Act 2016.
Angus will appear from custody on September 21.
