The body of a man found in Brechin has been confirmed as that of Anthony Kelbie from Dundee.
Police Scotland said on Friday that the body found in the Angus town on August 30 had now been formally identified as those of the 48-year-old.
Mr Kelbie was the subject of an extensive missing person search, involving police divers and a helicopter, stretching over more than ten days.
He was reported missing after going out to buy a lighter on August 19 — just hours after being treated in hospital for a bang on the head.
His distraught mother, Carole, 69, said during the search that she feared the worst.
She has since been too upset to talk about the tragic loss.
Police spoke to more than 100 people in the locality during the hunt for Mr Kelbie and made a plea for information for motorists who may have seen him on the outskirts of Brechin around the time he was last seen.
Police Scorland said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal
