The funeral of an Angus police officer who died suddenly in his garden takes place today.
Ian Ross, 52, who lived in Friockheim, died as a result of an undiagnosed heart condition and was found by his wife Lorna, 54.
Mr Ross was a PC in Arbroath and was due to retire in three years.
His wife described him as a true gentleman.
She said: “He always had a funny story and managed to cheer everyone up.
“He was much loved by his friends and colleagues.
“We were devoted to each other and I am going to miss him terribly.
“He was due to retire in three years and we were looking forward to going on holiday.
“He loved Florida. We have been there about 12 times and we were looking forward to going back.”
Mrs Ross said the other great love of her husband’s life was Elvis Presley.
Also known to family and friends as “Jock”, Mr Ross was born in Singapore and moved to Arbroath when he was five and went to Warddykes Primary School and Arbroath Academy.
He worked at a variety of jobs before becoming a policeman at the age of 32.
As well as Arbroath, Mr Ross also served in Forfar and Kirriemuir.
