Two men have appeared at an Angus court accused of assault with intent to rape.
Mohammed Islam and Shehab Smekramuddin appeared at Forfar in connection with an alleged incident involving a woman in the town’s Arbroath Road earlier this month.
Islam, 28, and Smekramuddin, 48, both of Forfar, are charged under Section 3 of the Sexual Offences Scotland Act 2009.
Neither made any plea or declaration and both were remanded in custody for further examination.
They are expected to appear again in court at a later date.
Police Scotland launched an appeal for information following an incident in the early hours of September 19.
The alleged victim was said to have been left badly shaken.
Officers have now thanked members of the the public for what they said was an encouraging response.
