Ambulance, coastguard and lifeboat crews were scrambled after a walker broke her leg at a Mearns beauty spot.
The alarm was raised shortly after noon on Saturday when the woman fell near Dunnottar Castle, south of Stonehaven.
The woman had reportedly suffered a lower leg break after falling on a muddy path near the landmark.
Stonehaven Coastguard rescue team responded after being contacted by paramedics, but due to the difficulty in getting the woman back up the cliff path it was decided the best option was to take her from the beach by the local lifeboat.
She was transferred to a waiting ambulance and the emergency personnel were stood down around 1.30pm.
