Arbroath Infirmary’s medical unit has been closed to new admissions because of a flu outbreak.
NHS Tayside said on Monday the move had been taken because a “small number” of patients had contracted Influenza A.
Visitors have also been asked to stay away from the ward while the outbreak passes.
A spokesperson said: “Patients in the ward are being monitored and appropriate infection control measures are in place.
“To help reduce the spread of infection, visitors are asked to avoid visiting if possible.
“We ask that visitors who have coughs and colds which could be flu not to visit friends and relatives until they are better.
Dr Gabby Phillips, Lead Infection Control Doctor, said, “The medical unit remains closed and enhanced infection control precautions are in place.”
There is usually no need for those who are fit and healthy so see a doctor if they suffer flu-like symptoms.
Health experts say the best remedy is to rest at home, keep warm and drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.
Medicines such as paracetamol or ibuprofen can be taken to lower a high temperature and relieve aches.
