Wintry weather seemingly played havoc on the seas as the Montrose RNLI was called out to two incidents on Monday morning.
The small fishing boat Artimus had broken down and was drifting. The All Weather Lifeboat Ian Grant Smith was requested to help.
Another fishing boat, Lifty, had taken the Artimus, under its tow and returned it to Arbroath Harbour – the Montrose Lifeboat continued to provide safety cover.
As both fishing vessels entered the harbour, the lifeboat was re-tasked to a separate incident as a beacon had been activated.
They later found that the activation was accidental while carrying out checks of the equipment on board the vessel. The beacon was deactivated and the lifeboat stood down.
