Dear Santa,
I know it’s a busy time of year for you so I’m sorry if I’m cutting it a little fine, but I wonder if there may be a little space left on your sleigh for when you pass through Courier country.
It’s been a year of naughty and nice in Angus, but among the good girls and boys there are definitely a few who deserve a visit.
Top of the list is the lady who has also ended the year as the deserved number one in the Courier Impact 100.
This year, Amanda Kopel fulfilled the promise she made to her beloved husband Frankie and, hopefully, by the time next Christmas comes around the legislation will be in place to make Frank’s Law a support for countless families in years to come.
There’ll be tears in Kirrie, but hopefully in a Kopel family home filled with love and hugs there may also be a glass of fizz to toast the couple whose shared determination has changed our nation for the better.
And I know the elves will have been very busy, but I’ll not ask you to direct too much of their effort the way of a handful of our elected council representatives.
For sure, there are some councillors who could probably do with some new toys to replace all those which have been thrown out of the pram in the months since May.
But if you could just pop into their stockings something which might make them stick to the notion that there really is no place for petty politics in the Forfar chamber then that really would be a gift for us all that’s not just for Christmas.
And finally, if I can make one final request, I would like you to bring health and happiness in 2018 and beyond to the readers of these weekly ramblings who have been unfailingly kind in their comments to me throughout the year.
Local Matters to this newspaper and it seems Monday Matters does too, for which I am hugely grateful.
Thank you Santa,
With love,
Graham Brown, aged 52¼…….
