A sea and land search has been carried out in Angus for a man who may have entered the water on Thursday afternoon.
A member of the public is understood to have telephoned HM Coastguard to raise concerns about the man in question at Barry level crossing at around 3pm.
The man was described as aged 30 to 40 years of age, with ginger hair, and was wearing jeans, trainers and a dark jumper.
The Broughty Ferry lifeboat and Carnoustie Coastguard were called out to assist and conduct a search of the water around Barry Buddon, but nothing untoward was found and they were stood down.
Police are now keen to trace the person who raised the alarm to local HM Coastguard personnel to obtain further information.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Anyone with knowledge of this incident or who knows the male or observed anyone as described in the area of Barry around this time should contact the police on 101 quoting incident number 1947 of December 28.”
