The Beast from the East weather chaos has continued into a third day.
Although official weather warnings have been downgraded, the challenge is far from over.
Police warned motorists to avoid a main Angus road after several cars became stuck in snowdrifts on Thursday night.
The A92 between Arbroath and Montrose near Marywell as gritters struggled to reach and clear the route.
Police received the first of many calls from stranded motorists at around 7pm.
One motorist said he was caught in gridlocked traffic at the Meadowbank Roundabout near Arbroath.
He added he was stuck in a “convoy system” being led by police and Angus Council and described parts of the A92 as “almost impassible” and down to “single file” traffic.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said the gritter was attempting to ease the situation but urged drivers to avoid the area.
He added: “Please be mindful of travelling on the A92 between Arbroath and Montrose as there is severe drifting snow, particularly around the Marywell area where there are several vehicles stuck in drifts. Police are in attendance helping out.”

An amber warning for snow remained in place until 10am on Friday, but authorities are urging motorists not to take that as a green light to return to the roads.
With freezing temperatures and the likelihood of snow showers continuing throughout the day, the advice remains to avoid all but the most essential travel.
