A caring cabbie has stepped into the breach when the ‘beast from the east’ knocked out transport to and from Stracathro Hospital, near Brechin.
With buses cancelled and staff unable to travel, Blair Meston of ABK Cabs Limited came forward to offer free transport for doctors, nurses or other emergency service personnel working in and around Brechin.
With eight cabs on the road, the kind-hearted taxi owner has also picked up and delivered prescriptions to the elderly in the cathedral city, again free or charge.
He said: “We have had a run to Stracathro this morning and have a pick up later on this afternoon.
“We collected two prescriptions yesterday and delivered them to pensioners in Wards Road and River Street who couldn’t get out due to the weather.
“They were both over the moon.
“We have been in business in Brechin for three years and have had a lot of support from the local community.
“This is our way of giving something back.”
