A man was rushed to hospital after a fight allegedly broke out in a Mearns town.
Stonehaven’s High Street, near the junction with Arbuthnott Plce, was cordoned off by police following the incident on Wednesday at about 7pm.
A 21-year-old man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with “serious injuries”, with locals told to avoid the area.
A 28-year-old man was later arrested.
Detective Inspector Stewart Drummond said: “This has been a contained incident and I would like to thank members of the public for their cooperation and patience while inquiries were progressed in the area last night.
“Inquiries remain ongoing and anyone with information about this incident or who was in the area at the time is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 using reference number 3601 of May 16.”
