Montrose lifeboat volunteers showed their dedication when they came to the rescue of a stricken fishing boat almost 35 miles out to sea at the weekend.
The 10-metre Capella suffered machinery failure approximately 30 nautical miles (34 miles) east of Montrose on Sunday morning.
After receiving the call from Aberdeen Coastguard, the crew of the all-weather lifeboat Ian Grant Smith headed out on a rescue operation that lasted over six hours.
A Montrose lifeboat station spokesman said the call was received at 9.38am.
He added: “The all-weather lifeboat launched soon after and headed to the position reported to the coastguard.
“Arriving on scene at 11.25am, the volunteer crew of the lifeboat secured a tow rope to the casualty vessel and the lifeboat proceeded back to the safety of Montrose Harbour arriving at 4pm.”
