A pair of bungling sailors had to be rescued by Arbroath harbour staff after their boat got firmly stuck in the sand.
The alarm was raised yesterday afternoon after they became trapped on the slipway which has been closed to the public for more than year.
The wheels of the boat’s trailer became wedged in the sand drift and attempts to pull it out with their car proved fruitless as the rope kept snapping.
Efforts to free the stricken vessel were ongoing last night as rescuers used planks of wood to try free it whilst the tide was thankfully out.
