Arbroath’s inshore lifeboat came to the aid of a stricken boat during a joint emergency services training exercise on Saturday.
The local lifesaving volunteers had been working with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service personnel to practice casualty evacuations from confined spaces within a vessel when a member of the public alerted them to a small pleasure craft which had suffered engine trouble just outside the town harbour.
The D-class inshore lifeboat Robert Fergusson took the vessel under tow to the safety of the harbour, with the all-weather Inchcape standing by in the incident, which happened shortly after 11am.
RNLI and fire crews were then able to resume the training exercise.
