An Angus football team will make history in the first televised Scottish women’s league game on Friday.
Forfar Farmington will face Hibs Ladies at Station Park in the town at 7.45pm after BBC Alba agreed a landmark deal with the Scottish Football Association.
It will see the national team’s competitive home fixtures broadcast for the next three years, as well as a significant expansion of domestic league games.
18-year-old full back Leah White said: “Having played for Forfar Farmington since I was five and being a local girl, it’s really exciting for this to be happening within our club, making history in women’s football and I’m sure it’s something we will all remember.
“It’s exciting for the younger players within our club, showing them what they can strive to achieve. Hopefully as women’s football continues to grow, Farmington will get more opportunities like this.”
Head coach Mark Nisbet added: “It’s a real privilege to be involved in the first ever league game to be aired live & one which all the players & staff are really excited about.
“When the league called and asked if it was possible, I was in no doubt we could make it happen & that has proved to be the case.
“I am hopeful that we can generate a big home support for the game also and would encourage everyone to make the effort to get along to Station Park and support the players by creating a really good atmosphere.”
