Locals have been told to brace for snow and ice across parts of Tayside as the region prepares for the return of winter weather.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for the region, and neighbouring Grampian, effective from 8pm on Friday until Saturday at 11am.
Parts of Angus and Perthshire are expected to be the worst affected areas locally, with ice and “slushy snow” predicted on some roads.
The forecaster said: “Between 8pm, Friday 26 and 11am, Saturday 27 – hail, sleet and snow showers will leave surfaces prone to patchy ice, together with slushy snow over some upland routes.
“Probably ice on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, making accidents and injuries more likely.
“Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times.”
