A man has appeared in court in connection with a major incident involving armed police officers in an Angus town.
Dale Smith, 34, of Backbrae, Brechin, appeared in private from custody on a petition which alleges a single charge of assault.
He made no plea, was committed for further examination by Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown and was remanded in custody.
A full emergency response unit rushed to Glenlethnot Place in Montrose on Monday.
Armed officers were at the scene for an hour and a half before a man was arrested at 12.40pm.
Police Scotland said specialist officers were there to provide support after the alarm was raised following a disturbance inside a property.
Smith also appeared on a summary matter at Forfar Sheriff Court and pled not guilty to a total of 10 charges relating to road traffic offences carried out whilst he was on bail.
He denied driving a motorcycle dangerously by repeatedly driving at grossly excessive speeds up and down Union Street, Brechin on October 23 2018 and repeatedly applying the accelerator while the vehicle was stationary, driving without a licence, insurance or an appropriate test certificate.
He also denied failing to give information to Police Scotland officers at an address in Union Street, Brechin on October 23.
He pleaded not guilty to charges relating to incidents alleged to have taken place the following day, on October 24 2018.
They were that, on Union Street, City Road and Bridge Street, Brechin, he drove a motorcycle dangerously, repeatedly drove at grossly excessive speeds up and down Union Street, repeatedly applied the accelerator while the motorcycle was stationary, causing the wheels to spin while a 13-year-old was seated behind him, failing to stop when asked to do so by police officers, drove a motorcycle without a licence, insurance or an appropriate test certificate.
An intermediate diet was set for November 13 and a trial diet for December 5.
There was no motion for bail and Smith was remanded in custody.
