Firefighters raced to a fire at Montrose beach last night.
The alarm was raised around 7pm, and personnel found an area of grassland ablaze.
A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue said: “Firefighters attended an incident at Montrose beach at approximately 7pm on Saturday.
“The fire was extinguished in around ten minutes.”
Montrose and District SNP Councillor Bill Duff said: “I am aware of the incident, and although the cause of the fire is unknown, if it was deliberate, then it is utterly irresponsible.
“I would like to extend my thanks to the fire fighters for their fast response in dealing with this incident.
“This does not seem to be part of a pattern, and I hope that it was an isolated incident. “
