Arbroath lifeboat volunteers came to the assistance of a stricken fishing vessel on Friday.
The RNLI crew were requested by Aberdeen Coastguard to launch the all-weather lifeboat following an SOS call.
The request for assistance from the fishing vessel which was suffering difficulties was received by the Coastguard just before noon.
The fishing vessel had two people on board and had lost all steering but was managing to hold its position 1.4 nautical miles east of Arbroath harbour.
All persons found to be safe and well, the vessel was swiftly taken under tow by the lifeboat and safely returned to Arbroath harbour.
The call-out came at the end of a busy week for the crew after they were involved in the rescue of a woman who fell from the cliffs at Arbroath on Wednesday.
