Arbroath fans spent the weekend painting the town red after their heroes created history on Saturday.
Some parties in the town’s pubs even spilled out onto the streets as supporters could not hide their delight following the triumph.
The players and management also turned up to celebrate with fans in Tutties Neuk, the Station Bar and De Vito’s nightclub after the match as the party continued into the wee small hours.
The Lichties – whose 36-0 win against Bon Accord has been in the record books since 1885 – clinched the League One title despite being held to a 1-1 draw at Glebe Park.
The title win was dedicated to goalkeeping coach John Ritchie who died aged 70 in June and the club’s videographer Neil Douglas, who is battling back to health after suffering a stroke.
A spokesman for Arbroath FC said: “Our league title is dedicated to the late John Ritchie.
“A great friend who we all miss dearly.
“We will raise a glass for you John.
“The title is also for our friend and videographer Neil Douglas who recently suffered a stroke and is now recovering in hospital.
“We miss you Neil.”
Mr Douglas was left paralysed down the right-hand side of his body after collapsing during a match against East Fife in March.
He watched the match in his Arbroath scarf from his hospital bed at Ninewells Hospital where he sent a message to the team to enjoy the celebrations.
He said: “From my hospital bed I saw Arbroath win promotion to the Championship.
“It will be a bit of a long haul back for me but I hope to be with you all when I can.”

The title win was also celebrated in the unlikely setting of Augusta National in Georgia where golf’s US Masters was taking place.
Sky Sports golf commentator and Arbroath fan Ewan Murray toasted the victory following Saturday night’s play with former PGA Championship winner Rich Beem.

He said: “If I wasn’t here, I’d love to be in Arbroath tonight.
“It’s a great day for the Campbell brothers, the players, the fans and everyone connected with such a fine club.
“I’ll concentrate on The Masters for now but I’ll be celebrating with my pal Rich Beem a little later on and I’m sure we’ll find something to put in a glass.
“Paint Arbroath red tonight because the Red Lichties are champions.”
Wimbledon doubles star Jonny O’Mara also sent a message of congratulations to the club.
“What a season from Arbroath FC,” he said.
“It’s one hell of an effort to win League One.”
