An Angus family’s latest arrival is settling in after his dad and gran were called into delivery duty during his unexpected Easter arrival.
Baby Brody made his way into the world more than three weeks early as Easter Sunday dawned at the Thacker family home in Kirriemuir. With no time to make it to hospital, mum Charlotte had to rely on her husband and mother to step into midwife roles.
The couple moved from Essex with their three-year-old daughter Isla Grace to be closer to Charlotte’s parents, Jan and Trevor Belton, who live at Lintrathen, near Kirriemuir.
The grandparents were on standby to look after Isla Grace when the new baby arrived and it was lucky they did so.
“Charlotte had been a bit uncomfortable on the Saturday but we were woken up with a phone call at around 3.30am saying she was in full scale labour,” said Jan.

The couple rushed to the couple’s home in Kirriemuir and made the emergency call to alert the ambulance service to the impending birth.
“We rang 999 and the lady on the phone was very supportive and very helpful,” Mrs Belton added.
“She talked us through all the way.”
“We put the phone on speaker and she was getting us to tell her what was happening and guiding us on what to do, and he was born at 5.25,” she added.
“We had called an ambulance and they arrived about two minutes after the baby was here. They were also lovely and very supportive.”
Mum and baby were taken to Ninewells for a short stay and Brody, who weighed in at 5lb 3oz, is now settling happily into Kirriemuir life.
Dad Dan is an HGV driver, while Charlotte was a senior school teacher before the family moved to Scotland and is hoping to resume her career in Angus.
“I don’t think anyone could believe that we had to deliver him, but everything has worked out fine and we are all over the moon,” said Jan.
