An Angus man has been placed on a three-month tagging order after admitting a so-called revenge porn offence against his former partner.
Steven Hay of Newton Avenue, Arbroath previously pled guilty to a March 13 offence in which he threatened to disclose a photo showing his partner in an intimate situation by posting it on social media.
At Forfar Sheriff Court, Sheriff Gregor Murray said: “When I heard what you did my initial thought was that you were going to jail and nowhere other than jail.”
He said a number of factors spared the accused from custody, including his remorse over the incident and other personal factors highlighted in a criminal justice report.
Hay, 54, was placed on a six-month Community Payback Order with supervision and made subject to the three-month Restriction of Liberty Order confining him to his home address between 7pm and 7am.
