Lifeboats had to rescue a yacht off the coast of East Haven this evening after the vessel suffered an engine failure.
RNLI were called out at around 8pm on Wednesday evening to a yacht off the Angus coast which was unable to return due to a lack of wind.
The 20ft yacht, called “Amboina”, is understood to have requested assistance after its engine had broke down, and in the light winds the yacht began to drift dangerously near shore.
Arbroath’s inshore lifeboat was launched, and eyewitnesses stated that the RNLI service managed to tow the yacht back to the safety of the town’s harbour.
The boat was secured to a pontoon at the harbour before 9pm.
