A road in a Mearns town has been closed and two homes have been evacuated due to subsidence.
As reported in the Evening Express, part of the A957 route has been shut following the discovery.
Police were called at about 10.30am on Thursday.
The road has been closed between Invercarron Cottage and the A92 Stonehaven to Montrose road.
Aberdeenshire Council has issued an emergency road order and say two neighboring properties have been evacuated.
A spokeswoman for the local authority said: “The A957 between Invercarron Cottage to the A92 has been closed effective immediately due to road subsidence.
“Two neighbouring properties have been evacuated as a precaution.

“We are working with the Stonehaven Flood Protection Scheme contractor to establish the extent of the damage and to get the road reopened as soon as possible.”
Repairs are not expected to be completed until August 7.
