A major rescue operation was launched at the foreshore in Arbroath on Tuesday afternoon after a woman became trapped in mud.
The call was raised at 1pm after reports were received a person was stuck in mud.
HM coastguard rescue teams from Arbroath, Montrose, Carnoustie and St Andrews were tasked to attend.
The RNLI lifeboat was also requested to launch to give assistance.
Also in attendance was Scottish Fire & Rescue units from Arbroath and Dundee.
The casualty was dug from the mud by the attending RNLI inshore lifeboat crew and officers escorted her by foot back to the shore.
The casualty was no worse for her ordeal and did not require medical attention.
