A Forfar woman in her 60s has admitted a series of benefit frauds totalling almost £8,000.
Annie Simpson appeared at the town’s sheriff court where she pled guilty to three charges of claiming sums she was not entitled to in offences spanning almost two years.
Simpson, 61, of Glenclova Terrace admitted obtaining £2,860 employment and support allowance between September 2015 and December 2016, carer’s allowance of £4,538 between August 2015 and June 2017 and housing benefit of £340 between November 2016 and July 2017.
The court was told the accused had no previous convictions.
Sheriff Gregor Murray deferred sentence on Simpson for a month for the preparation of a background report.
He said: “The levels to which you have pled guilty require me to impose some form of community-based disposal depending on your ability to carry out unpaid work or, in your case if you are unable to do that, a very significant financial penalty.”
