An “obstinate” young Angus woman who admitted a catalogue of crimes including a revenge porn incident has been given a chance by a sheriff to prove she is succeeding in turning her life around.
Lesha Grant appeared before Sheriff Gregor Murray at Forfar for sentencing on a number of matters including offences from last year and breaches of a previously imposed Community Payback Order (CPO).
Grant, of Annat Road, Montrose, previously admitted threatening to disclose an intimate image of a man on August 4 last year with the intent of causing him fear, alarm or distress.
The 20-year-old had also earlier pled guilty to assaulting a woman at Sharky’s Bar, Montrose on July 27 last year by punching her on the head to her injury.
The CPO breached had been imposed for offences including breach of the peace and failing to appear in court.
Solicitor Scott Norrie said: “All these offences are from last year and there are no other outstanding matters.
“Given the terms of the social work report, there is a sign of an element of maturity on her part that would be tested by a Community Payback Order.
“Her and her former partner now have a friendly relationship and are getting on well.”
He added: “There has to be some form of punishment imposed, she accepts that and she accepts that in the recent past she has been obstinate.”
Sheriff Murray told Grant: “What I am essentially being told by you, as confirmed by the social work report, is that you have tried to turn your life around.
“You recognise that when you are drunk you get violent and do stupid things.
“Nonetheless there are elements of your life which still give cause for concern and this report is less than glowing.
“You are still in breach of your CPO because you didn’t do the work you were ordered to do so I am not prepared to waste the time, effort and money of the social work department at this stage by putting you on another order.
“I intend to place you on a low tariff deferred sentence for three months and how you progress with that may convince the court to impose a CPO then,” said the sheriff.
Grant will return to court in November.
