A man jailed for 100 days for breaking bail was landed with an additional three-month contempt punishment in the wake of a foul-mouthed courtroom outburst.
David Kelly appeared in the dock before Sheriff Gregor Murray at Forfar to be sentenced for the bail breach offence, which took place in July this year after he posted a social media video, which he was banned from doing under the conditions of the order.
The repeat domestic offender was told by the sheriff: “In 2015 you were placed on a community payback order and breached that.
“In 2017 you were placed in a community payback order, in 2018 you were made subject to a one-year non-harrassment order and a civil non-harrassment order has now been applied against you.
“In this case, to do what you did two days after you were granted bail is appalling.”
The 31-year-old reacted to a 100-day sentence with a volley of obscenities towards the sheriff as police and security staff brought him under control.
Kelly, of Knowehead Crescent, Kirriemuir, continued the tirade and was returned to the dock where he was found in contempt by the sheriff.
Also at Forfar: Zac Welsh, 31, of Stoneycroft Lane, Arbroath, was ordered to carry out 100 hours unpaid work after admitting behaving in a threatening manner in Dickmont Place, Arbroath, on July 13, making threats of violence towards his partner and also behaving in a threatening manner on July 16.
Sheriff Murray told Welsh: “From the court’s point of view, you’re an accident waiting to happen.”
