A teenage Angus drink-driver has been banned and ordered to carry out unpaid work.
Steve Mann, 18, of Ballinshoe Farm, near Kirriemuir, appeared for sentence before Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown at Forfar Sheriff Court.
He previously pled guilty to driving in Brechin Road, Kirriemuir, on August 16 with an excess breath alcohol reading of 52 microgrammes, against a legal limit of 22.
Depute fiscal Jill Drummond told the court Mann mounted a kerb at the junction and crashed into a stone wall.
Defence solicitor Michael Boyd said Mann had been at a friend’s house and thought he was still fit to drive after having a drink there.
Sheriff Martin-Brown told the accused: “This is your first conviction and it is clear from the social work report you accept full responsibility and express remorse.”
Mann was disqualified for a year and must complete 65 hours of unpaid work under a six-month community payback order.
