A former Michelin worker who molested a child in Dundee has been remanded in custody.
Anthony Clark, 74, of Glenclova Terrace, Forfar, admitted two charges of indecent behaviour and indecent assault between September 1983 and September 1988 at an address in Dundee.
Police began an inquiry after the woman reported the abuse for a second time and in August last year Clark was interviewed again.
The court heard the former Michelin tyre factory worker was living in Dundee when he began abusing the child, then younger than 10.
Advocate depute Peter Ferguson QC told the High Court in Edinburgh: “After the abuse the accused would often give the complainer sweets and money.”
Clark went on to indecently assault the girl as she grew older.
Defence counsel Neil Beardmore said there were no previous convictions for Clark but he would not seek his release on bail.
A judge told Clark: “You have pled guilty to serious offences, involving sexual abuse of a child over a period of time.”
Lord Uist said: “You are bound to receive a prison sentence for these offences.”
The judge adjourned the case for sentencing until next month and called for a background report to be prepared on Clark.
He was remanded in custody and placed on the sex offenders register.
