A drunken chef was locked up after being spotted with a collection of knives he had been given as a parting gift at his leaving do.
Michael Foley, 40, was taken into police custody after dropping one of the knives on his way into a pub and then being spotted with two more.
Solicitor Paul Ralph, defending, said: “The knives were presented to him as part of a going away gift and too much alcohol was taken as part of his leaving his job.”
Depute fiscal Charmaine Gilmartin told Perth Sheriff Court: “The accused started a conversation with a customer in the Foundry Bar and appeared to be under the influence.
“He saw the accused had a knife poking out of his rucksack.
“He took it from the rucksack and dropped it on the bar.
“He told the customer he was a chef.
“The customer was concerned so they told staff and police were contacted.
“He was asked to leave and he did so.
“CCTV footage was reviewed and showed him entering the bar holding two knives. He dropped them as he walked.”
Mrs Gilmartin told the court that Foley was arrested by the police and held in a cell until he sobered up.
Foley, of Bute Drive, Perth, admitted being in possession of three knives in the Foundry Bar in Murray Street, Perth on May 27 last year.
Sentencing was deferred for reports.
