A Perthshire pensioner brandished a spade during a silent stand-off with the neighbour he was banned from talking to.
Graham MacDonald approached Fergusson Torrens as he unloaded his car in a neighbouring driveway and stood with the gardening implement.
The 67-year-old had been ordered not to approach Mr Torrens by Perth Sheriff Court as part of bail conditions in a separate case.
Depute fiscal Mairi Graham told the court there was an ongoing neighbour dispute between the pair.
She said: “Mr Torrens was unloading items from his vehicle when the accused approached him.
“He had taken a spade from his garage. He stood about three feet away and did not say anything but had an angry expression on his face. Mr Torrens warned him of what would happen if he continued.”
She added that when police came to arrest MacDonald, he said: “I’m going to do him”.
Solicitor Jamie Baxter, defending, said the original dispute was in relation to a fence between the properties. He said MacDonald had managed to avoid further confrontation since the incident.
MacDonald, of Balmanno Park, Bridge of Earn, admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by repeatedly brandishing a spade towards Mr Torrens on November 21.
He further admitted making threats of violence and breaching bail conditions at his home address.
Sheriff Keith O’Mahoney fined him £400 and placed him under the supervision of social workers for six months.
