A man accused of deliberately striking another with a car in Dundee has walked free from court.
Marti Boi Stewart, of Boswells Terrace, had been facing accusations he attacked a man on St Kilda Road, Dundee, on January 6.
However, a jury unanimously found the two charges against Stewart, 27, not proven at Dundee Sheriff Court.
It was alleged that, while acting with others, he assaulted the man and repeatedly struck him on the head and body with metal poles or similar implements.
He was also accused of driving a motor vehicle at him thereby striking him again with the car while he was on the ground, all to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
A second charge alleged Stewart had an offensive weapon, namely a metal pole or similar implement, in public without cause.
Stewart’s solicitor had previously told the court there was no doubt the complainer was assaulted.
However, he maintained it was not his client who had committed the offence.
