A 32-year-old man who travelled to Dundee to meet underage girls for sex had been set up and lured into a trap by a group of “paedophile hunters”.
Matthew Sayers, 32, arranged to meet children aged 12 and 13 after being duped into thinking he was talking to them online.
When he arrived at the city’s bus station he was cornered by James Doyle, who had been operating the fake online profiles.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard Sayers had contacted the fake profiles in early January and had kept engaging with them after they told him they were only 12 and 13.
Sayers admitted attempting to send sexual written communications to two people for the purposes of obtaining sexual gratification or causing humiliation, distress or alarm.
He also admitted meeting or communicating with individuals not believed to have attained the age of 16 and attempting to meet with them with the intent of engaging in unlawful sexual activity.
Sayers, who has been placed on the sex offenders register, was kept in custody for the completion of reports and sentence was deferred.
