A football manager accused of aiming bigoted abuse at two men in a bar has had his trial postponed for seven months because of coronavirus.
Dundee FC manager James McPake and co-accused Forfar player Gary Irvine yesterday had their trial date put back until November.
The duo are due to face trial in connection with an alleged incident in Braes bar on Perth Road, Dundee, on October 6 last year.
McPake, 35, denies making homophobic remarks to two men in the pub, in an offence aggravated by prejudice relating to sexual orientation.
Irvine, 35, denies headbutting one of the men at the same location.
The trial, which has already been put off once in February, had been fixed for June 16 but was put off again yesterday without either accused appearing in Dundee Sheriff Court.
McPake joined Dundee Football Club from Hibernian in 2014 and went on to make 50 league appearances for the club. Having retired from playing in January 2018, he took up the Dundee manager’s post last year.
Irvine was an integral part of Dundee’s “Dee-fiant” 2010/11 squad.
