A racist who abused a police officer after being found lying drunk in the street during the coronavirus lockdown was jailed for four months on Monday.
The incident occurred just after 7pm on April 22 in North Street, Glenrothes.
Prosecutor Allistair McDermid said: “Ambulance personnel found the accused lying on the ground. Police officers also attended.
“It was clear to all that the accused was under the influence of alcohol. He was checked over and offered to be taken back to his home address.
“One of the PCs attending is of Chinese ethnic origin, and the accused repeatedly threatened to knock him out and referred to him as a c***** b******.
“He was then arrested.”
Appearing at Falkirk Sheriff Court via a video link from Low Moss Prison, Bishopbriggs, Kevin O’Hare, 58, of Glenrothes, pled guilty to using racially-aggravated behaviour towards police, swearing and uttering threats of violence – all while subject to six bail orders.
David Cranston, defending, said: “Historically his problems have related to alcoholism. In recent years he has developed an addiction to heroin.”
Imposing the jail term, Sheriff Keith O’Mahony told O’Hare: “You committed this offence while you were on six bail orders, and you have an exceptionally lengthy record of previous convictions.”
