Kyle McKenzie, who is local to the town, appeared in private at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Wednesday. He also faces an allegation of theft by housebreaking. McKenzie made no plea and the case was continued for further examination. He was kept in custody pending a bail appeal and later remanded. The accused was arrested after a manhunt following an alleged sexual assault on a woman in her own home in Glenrothes at around 5am on June 25. A man in his thirties was initially arrested but later released without charge and eliminated from the investigation. Police went door to door in the Collydean area of the town after the alleged attack, which left the elderly victim distraught. Meanwhile, specialist officers were brought in to assist local police.
