Simon Johnston, 39, subjected the 71-year-old woman to a violent ordeal which lasted for several hours at a property in Kirkcaldy, Fife, in June 2015. The High Court in Edinburgh heard how Johnston grabbed the woman by the hair and forced her from her kitchen to a bedroom. He ignored her pleas for him to stop and threatened to kill her before restricting her breathing by placing a pillow over her mouth. He held a knife to her and told her that he wanted sex. However, Johnston, also of Kirkcaldy, then left. He was arrested after reading on a news website the following day about how police was seeking a man in connection with the attack. Johnston, a prisoner of HMP Perth, will be sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh on May 20 2016. For the full story get Saturday’s edition of The Courier or try our digital edition.
