A 46-year-old man who caused his wife severe injury by battering her with a cat-scratching post has been allowed to walk free from court.
Andrew Thomson admitted striking Deborah Thomson on the head with the post during an incident at their home almost a decade ago.
His not guilty plea to a second alleged attack on her in 2018 – by pulling her to the ground and kicking her on the body – was accepted by the Crown.
Thomson, of Fairfield Road, Broughty Ferry, admitted assaulting Mrs Thomson, 39, in Fort Street, Broughty Ferry, between January 1 and 31 2011.
Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown placed Thomson on a community payback order and ordered him to attend a domestic offenders’ project when he appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court yesterday.
