A Perth man who attacked a Good Samaritan pensioner in his own living room has been jailed for a year.
Drunken Gareth Davies pinned the 77-year-old to the floor after the pensioner and his wife had invited him into their home when they became concerned about his welfare.
Davies committed the attack just hours after leaving court with a community payback order seeking to address his alcohol issues.
He admitted assaulting the pensioner on March 16 at an address in Stirling Street, Blackford, by seizing and twisting his arm, and pinning him to the floor to his injury.
Fiscal depute Lisa Marshall told the court the couple had invited him inside for help after he knocked on their window and was seen crying outside.
Out of concern for his welfare, the complainer’s wife called 999 but Davies then became agitated because he was upset about the police being called in.
Ms Marshall said: “They tried talking to him to ascertain his name but the accused became more agitated.”
When the complainer’s wife left the living room to look out for the police, Davies lunged at her husband and pinned him down on the living room floor.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis said: “It is verging on beyond comprehension that having been made subject to a CPO on March 16 between 10am and 4pm, by 8pm an elderly couple invite you into their home with a view to get assistance for you.”
Davies, Tulloch Place, also admitted assaulting an ambulance technician by pushing him and pinning him against a wall in Perth on March 5 this year, as well as resisting arrest and struggling with officers.
