A man is to stand trial accused of inventing a gun attack on himself.
Liam Gray faces a charge of wasting police time on January 24 this year in Dundee’s Forth Crescent.
He is alleged to have falsely claimed to PC Louise Taylor that an attacker had pointed a firearm at him while uttering threats.
Prosecutors say that caused police to “devote their time” to investigating the invented claim that he “knew to be false”, rendering the public “liable to suspicion and accusation of firearm offences and a breach of the peace”.
Gray, 19, of Bruce Street, Dundee, denied a charge of wasting police time on summary complaint at Dundee Sheriff Court.
