The jury in the Liam Fee murder trial has been sent home after a second day of deliberations.
The case against Liam’s mother Rachael Trelfa and her civil partner Nyomi Fee was adjourned at 3pm after a juror reported feeling unwell.
The jury has so far spent 10 hours considering the case against the pair who are accused of murdering two-year-old Liam at his home in Thornton on March 22 2014.
The couple say another young boy is responsible for the youngster’s death.
Trelfa, 31, and Fee, 29, are also accused of a catalogue of horrific abuse against the tot and two older boys in their care over a period of two years.
Both accused, originally from Ryton, Tyne and Wear, also deny attempting to defeat the ends of justice by falsely incriminating another boy for Liam’s death.
They deny a total of eight charges against them.
The trial before Lord Burns will enter its 34th day on Tuesday.
