Police have made an arrest following the alleged murder of a man in Glenrothes.

A 25-year-old man was scheduled to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Monday following the death of Ian Goodall.

The 54-year-old was found dead at his home in Minto Crescent, in the Macedonia area of the town, at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to the property early on Saturday morning after a report of concern for a person was received by police.

However, it is understood that Mr Goodall was dead by the time that police arrived at the scene.

Appealing for any witnesses to come forward with information, Detective Inspector Stuart Wilson, of the Major Investigation Team, said: “An extensive investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding Ian’s death.

We’d urge anyone who may have seen Ian in the local area, or anyone entering or leaving his home between midnight and 9.40am on Saturday, to get in touch as soon as possible.

“Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could be vital in helping us to form a wider picture of the events leading up to Ian’s death.”

Inspector Joanne McEwan said: “Local officers will be conducting reassurance patrols and doing all possible to support the Major Investigation Team’s investigation.

“Our condolences are with Ian’s family at this difficult time, and anyone in the community with concerns or information is urged to speak to officers.”
