A Welshman has been jailed after being caught with more than £4000 of class B drugs at T in the Park.
Evan Hellyer admitted having 280g of mephedrone with intent to supply at the music festival on July 10 last year.
Perth Sheriff Court heard that police were carrying out random checks on vehicles in the car park and the system flagged Hellyer as a disqualified driver.
Fiscal depute Rebecca Kynaston said: “The locus was at T in the Park in the car park.
“The vehicle the accused was in was stoped by officers for a routine check.
“This showed the accused was disqualified and he was detained.
“The vehicle was searched and it was then that the drugs were discovered.
“There was 279.86g with a potential value of £4,200.”
Hellyer’s solicitor said that since being caught he had remained clean.
“Since this commission of this offence he has taken several positive steps in his life. He has not taken any illicit substances since this.
“He does realise that this is a very serious offence. He is distraught and ashamed to have been convicted of an offence of this nature.”
He said that Hellyer had been unemployed for three years but had recently been granted a licence to open up his own tattoo studio.
Sheriff Fiona Tait sentenced Hellyer, of Hengoed, Mid Glamorgan, to 270 days in custody.
